At a beginning class with five year olds I think whichever your daughter is most comfortable with is fine. I would maybe check out a class or call the teacher to see what is common at that studio. It is true she won't later on but for just beginning she will do better if she is comfortable. Hope she has fun

She should not!! Some girls today do, but it is improper and ugly. I'm in my teens, and we aren't allowed to. Start her the right way, and when recital comes around she won't argue.

i was always told not to by my teachers

Nope!
dont do it! it looks really bad

no, you can see the underwear sticking out and its really ugly. plus you cant wear underwear under your costume.

No Way!!!!!! it will show through her tights!!!

no... it will be a problem when she gets older, but many young students do...

The little girls in our academy do wear underwear underneath there leotards. But the older ones do not. When she turns like 7 years old she should not wear underwear. But I think right now it is fine. I mean she is 5! No one cares.

No they don't.

no underwear under the tights.

no dont when i was a gymnist we just used to wear body suits under our leotards they r just like under wear and they will proberbly stop the ballet tights annoying or irritating her

In our ballet studio it's fine to wear underwear under your leotard and tights, and little girls are allowed to wear underwear in performances too. (older girls aren't.) It really depends on what your daughter feels comfortable with and how strict the studio she goes to is.
