Question:for a beginner in classical ballet, starting from the bottom...
how long would it roughly take to be good enough for en pointe?
[i'm 15 and pick things up fast. i am very willing to put all my efforts into it. i will be taking 2 classes per week]

and,
what grade is en pointe normally begun at?

-thanks =]

pointe is different for everyone depending on how fast they grow, how much ballet they know, and how strong their ankles are.
A friend of mine started ballet this summer and my teacher is going to let her join our pointe class next year because her ankles are developed and she puts in 110% every week.
Just try your hardest and work at home on the days you don't have dance.
Show them you have a passion for it but don't learn ballet just to get to pointe. Soak it all in because you love it.
Someone famous (I don't remember who) said: Don't love yourself in the art, love the art in yourself.

remember that, try your best and good luck.

pointe is usually started in the 12 yr old range. u cnat start too early (like 8) cuz then the pointe work could damage ur feet and ankle growth plates. If u work studiously and hard, and are a fast learner like u say. id say 2 -3 yrs and you'll be on pointe! good luck! :)

i stated when i was 3... and got on pointe when i was 9 becuase my ankles had to be so strong to be able to stand on pointe. so idk

have u had any other ballet experience, if u had, tell the ballet instructer she might be able to move u up

I would say about 2 years. The faster and garder you work and the more dedication, the sooner.

My dance instructor says that you should almost be done growing so you don't hurt your ankles. I'd say your best bet is to start when you're 14. You may be able to start earlier depending on if you have your period so you know that you're done growing. But yea you should be good to go at 15.
