Position:Home>Dancing> How many ballet lessons in a week?

Question:What is a good number of ballet lessons to be taking per week?
I would be an absolute beginner and I want to take 2 per week but I'm hoping to really strengthen up fast and do better quicker so I don't have to stay in a class with litte kids..
I'm a late beginner in ballet [15 years old]! and where I live they do not have adult classes..
I will feel so silly having to be with little kids but i'm willing to put up with it to get better. =]
Any other information and tips are greatly appreciated as im really new to ballet!!
[p.s - I think i only want ballet as a hobby i am aware i started very late. i dont think i ever would stand a chance going on to do it professionally? Compared to people who are about 13 and already at the advanced stages, is this right? :(

- thanks!

Two a week, and i am proud of you.
Lets talk dancing for just a little.
Classic dancer start with Ballet. It develop es mussels you need, develop your leg gs and grace
just to walk, you can tell a person has training.
Ballet also develop es bust and upper body.
You can still dance Ballet in school plays.or for a
beauty pageant.OR just dance for the fun for friends and family.
Also take up tap as a hobby.

I WISH YOU THE VERY BEST OF LUCK,And
don't worry about sharing with kiddies.Just do
your very best and move on faster.
Why not get a book from the library, and practice a
little on your own.

Phillip

every day :)))

I used to go to dance school where they would try and put you in to a class that wouldn't have little kids in but wouldnt be tooo too advanced for you either. you might be with like 11 yr olds. my advice though would be to take one lesson a week to start, practice loads at home, but it can be physically draining if your not used to it. put loads into it and youll get loads out.

2 or 3 is a great number to start out with! I started taking ballet a little late as well, but if you make sure to ask the teacher for stuff you can improve on, and just work on it. If they let you, try to watch or even join in on the class a level up from yours. It will help a lot! If your goal is to to someday get on pointe, then start strengthing your ankels and legs now! Lots of releves help. Good luck and I hope this helps!

You will advance a lot quicker than the younger kids anyway, simply because you are older and take in instructions quicker. I would stick with one for the first term so you are sure it is what you want to do.

Get some books from the library (there are loads) and maybe a DVD for Christmas then speak to your teacher about upping it when you have the basic steps.

Good luck.

Well I say you can Take at least four..as long as they are your skill level..

I take about 6 classes a week and some are a little easier and some are harder..but i think it is perfectly okay as long as you know your ability and know you can keep up with out hurting your body..

Well I hope this helps..

I would start out with 2 or 3 it depends on how much time you have. I take around 7 ballet classes right now and many other dance classes as well. The more comfortable you get with it then maybe you could ask to add an additional harder class at your studio.

two a week is good for beginning, but if you want to work up to pointe you should probably start taking 3 eventually.
