Position:Home>Dancing> Can I do Ballet at 15 almost 16?

Question:I have had past experience with dance for a year or so but that was many years ago.
I have just started yoga and am interested in staring ballet.
i am 16 soon and wondering is that too late.?
I heard you have to train your body from a very young age to do it properly. I am willing to train and do whatever it takes just so i can learn how to do it.

------ I have NEVER been to a ballet class before------
- thanks!

Yes of course you can.

It's great that you do Yoga, the posture is very similar and it will help with your Ballet .

You do have to train your body from a young age, but it sounds like you have the determination so I think you would be fine.

Start doing some flexibilty exercises NOW though, just so that your a little bit prepared when you do the class.

Good Luck and happy dancing :)

Well, most kids start when they are younger and for this reason, many dance schools do not offer beginner classes for teenagers. Ask around because they might, or you may have to start out in a class with kids a little younger than you. Or ask about private lessons. You will get more attention and help with private lessons and move up quicker. Good luck!

yes ofcourse it's never too late to start, there are some people in their mid- 50's who are picking it up, it's better that you start ballet at 15 going 16 and have a chance at making it big then starting it at 25 and wanting to make it big not that it's impossible to turn pro at 25 but it'll take alot of hard work and dedication, if you wanna take it up now and be good you have to fall and get back up again almost instantly you can do you all you have to do is live eat sleep and breathe dance, and be passionate about it and have fun remember you don't have to be the BEST! dancer to love dance more than a pro, it comes from the heart and as long as your trying, you can make it, <33 GOOD LUCK!

if you were hoping to be a prima ballerina, then you would have started much earlier. but -- if you just want to learn the art and have fun with it, then you by all means should try to find an adult beginner class in your area. good luck !
