Position:Home>Dancing> My dance teacher is wierd...?

Question:Today was the day we were supposed to present our group dance creations in front of our class. But while practicing, my knee sort of "popped", and now everytime a bend my knee, or put pressure on it, I hear this clicking noise and it hurts.

So I asked to go to the nurse and get it checked out. So my dance teacher writes me a pass. (btw, this is my dance class in school.) Of coarse, the nurse didn't do anything but give me an ice pack which didn't help. So I went back to class.

When I got back, all of the groups had performed their
dance except for mine. And with my knee hurt, I didn't think I could do all the moves right. So my group decided to go on Monday instead.

Then after, one of my group partners (also my friend) comes over and tells me how another girl in our class said that I was faking my knee injury. So my friend told the dance teacher how
the other group was saying I faked it. Then, my dance teacher says "Well, it's something she would do."
But I'm NOT faking it.

That's very unprofessional and if she wishes to keep her students she should learn to keep her mouth shut.

Tell your parents if you have not already. They will probably agree to go above her head (ie: Principal or whoever is in charge of her).

Hope all works out.

talk the principal about it...that is not something a teacher should say!

Wow! if my teacher said that to me I would be like ecuse me!How would you know if I was fakin it yuo aint the one with the injury are you no!

That;s is RUDE of the teacher!!!!! Teachers are supposed to teach, not judge! Talk to your mom, the principal, and maybe even the counselor and tell them you are offended by what she said. That is sooooo mean of an adult authority figure to say about a student!!!

I would suggest talking to a parent about it, and go to the doctor if its bothering you still. Then, you'll have a note "proving" the injury, although you shouldn't have to "prove" an injury to a teacher...Reguardless, talk to a parent and let the know the situation. Make sure you use the RICE method....Rest Ice Compression Elevation. Rest as much as you can; Ice 20 mins on/30 mins off only while your awake; use an ACE wrap for compression, but take it off before you go to sleep; keep your injured knee above your heart to ward off swelling. Good luck!

don't let it get you, it doesn't mater what people think about you, you know you hurt your knee, you group mates know you hurt you knee so thats all that matters...you'll never be able to please everyone in life!!!

Prove them wrong.

First, I would take a few days off dancing, no matter how much this sucks, because it does. You don't want to permanetley damage your knee.

When you do feel better, be extra careful with knee excercises and plies and stuff.

Work your butt of and dance like no one's watching.

If you have ANY problem with knees of joints you should see a doctor right away. If you get a note from your doctor, then that would be the end of any rude comments, all around.

From what I'm hearing your teacher is not weird, she is rude. If you know for a fact that she said that (not just like rumors being passed on) I would defintally speak with your principal about this.

But try not to let your teacher get to you and just have fun in class! And I hope your knee feels better soon! I wish I knew something that would help with that but I don't.

You should switch to a Drama class.. it will suit you better..
