Position:Home>Dancing> Should I take hip hop or ballet? Or is there such thing as a mix of both?

Question:I am a very energetic person, but ballet has always interested me. I used to take Hip Hop, and everyone thought I was so good at that, but still, I wasn't happy. My friends say ballet doesnt seem to fit me as a person, but still, I don't think I'll be happy until I try it out. Do you think I should try ballet? Or go back to Hip Hop? Or is there such thing as a mix of both? Also where can I find out more abou it?

fortunettly for you dance has over the years built off other types and mixed together
jazz
a mix of balet and hip hop
availaible at most dance studios
pop
a mix of jazz and hiphop
availible at some dance studios but not all
lyrical
a more expressive kind of ballett with some jazz influences
avilible at some dance studios not usualy small ones though
goos luck hope this helps

suprisingly there is a mix of both... its called street jazz or jazz. (yes, there are differences) and yes, I take them. You can just learn about them by going to the nearest dance studio and ask. Im not sure if theres a web site for that though.

well some dance studios allow you to take classes as you wish so that way you can do both. to be honest many dancers take different classes. they alternate, i know dancers that take, ballet, modern, jazz, hip hop, brazillian, flamenco....
if you want to focus just on one you have to make that decision. are you doing it for hobby or professionally. If its professional focus on ballet but still go to hip hop classes every so often.

i would definitely start with ballet. because ballet is basically the root of every other kind of dance. it'll help you to understand your body and how to use it. then hip hop is amazing too. so maybe take two classes a week. a ballet and a hip hop. FUN!

i think you should do both because you may be an energetic person but ballet can be fun. and hip- hop may be fun but you don't like it don't do it. your friends don't know maybe ballet does not fit you but you know you could be the best ballet dancer ever try both and see what you like

I think if your very intergetic I'd go with hiphop. I take ballet(i have to! ugh) and it doesn't involve much energy just your legs and ankles have to be strong and you must have a good turn-out. Most places don't have a combo. of each at the same class time. So what I would do is take ballet AND hiphop on separate days if your schedule isn't that complex already! Too learn more about ballet....tough one.

But hiphop you can watch Chris brown or Ushers dancing videos. Their totally hiphop!

If you are going to take lessions, I suggest you take ballet. Learn the dicipline and the technique.

Dance is about feeling, both hip hop and ballet. But hip hop isn't really about technique.

If hip hop wasn't fun for you before, don't do it again. You also have to remember, if you are in a class...you're a student...and most people don't like being in school.

well at Dance Fever Charlotte, in North Caroline. ths studio had both, they have fun hip hop classes and classical ballet. if you really want to be challaged try pointe dance fever has a ballet teacher from italy. so there is a very wide rage there, jsut look around.

write back and tell me where you are from, and ill help you

some of these people are misinformed .. jazz is not hip hop and ballet combined. jazz is a somewhat of a branch-off of ballet. it is very technical like ballet but more "funky" (for lack of better words). hip hop is it's own thing, it is not as technical but more about style. hip hop is A LOT less restricted than jazz or ballet.

you could always take a ballet class or a jazz class and a hip hop class. do whatever you want. ballet is a very serious form of dance though and a lot of work. you may love it or you may hate it, but you'll never know until you try.

jazz

HIPHOP is the best also i take lessons you now the hiphop is the better but ballet is like nothing i prefer the hiphop for you like my opinion
hope i hepled
HIPHOP okkkkkkk?!!!!lol
the best dance for your personality go for it ?????!!!!!
