I do a number of things to keep my in the figure that I need to dance ballet;

Pilates
Yoga
And I do alot of walking, because my legs often have alot of tension.

The main things I focus on are keeping a strong core, flexibility, balance, and muscle strength.

I also own the "New York City Ballet Workout"
It's a 2-disc dvd of a real NYC ballet dancers daily workout.

lots an lots of Pilate's and yoga because it gives you very strong muscles without the bulk like weights give you. as far as dieting its what ever works for you i found that the diet eat right for your blood type really worked for me but its also quite intense

No, but I know you can't eat A LOT of things. I take ballet and it requires poise and you have to be VERY strong in the legs to do it right. I'd say work out in the gym focusing on your thighs and ankles. You should just eat regulary to gain your strength. No going on crash diets! Just don't eat overload before class or after class. (or in the middle of the night)

There's tons of excercises and stretches that are great for ballet. In fact, I take a class called ballet fit, which is pretty much a yoga class specially made for ballet dancers. We do sit and reach, second positions stretches, leg lifts lying on our backs and sides, tons of different variations of curl-ups, and a bunch of other things. Try looking it up online to give yourself some more ideas of what to do, there's lots of options.
