at your age i was dancing about 20 hours a week.
i was in the same boat as you...i was going to make my future dancing.
but i got burned out at that amount.
i would reccommend stepping it up to between 6-8 hours a week..along with 1-2 hours of jazz, lyrical, and/or modern.

Are you happy with the amount you're dancing? That's the main factor. If you feel like you have enough classes, then don't take more. You don't want to risk burn out. If you spend your "off days" wishing you were at dance class, then you should take more classes :D Dance is about beauty and emotion, but mostly it's about the dancer! Do what feels right for you.

"Serious" is a relative term. To get a sense of how you might compare to other 12 year olds who attend some of the most rigorous ballet schools in the U.S. with the goal of becoming professional ballet dancers, I looked up the class schedules for three ballet programs.

At the Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, 12 year olds would be about Level 3, which according to their web site, expects students to attend 16 hours a week:

At the Rock School, Level 3X is generally age 12 and older. Those students are required to take 6 classes per week, amounting to 12.5 class hours. (See p. 11 of the pdf brochure - bottom-right.)

At the Milwaukee Ballet School, it looks as though 12 year olds would be about level Ballet VI, which is the Intermediate Level of the Student Division. Those students attend ballet three times per week for 2 hours each and also take jazz for one hour per week for a total of 7 hours a week.

So, even at the lowest end of the scale for "serious," your 4.5 hours a week comes up much less in comparison. But, ultimately, only you can say how serious you want to be.

if you really enjoy it and you feel like you have a future in it, i would do more classes. but when i was 12 i did the same amount as you. but the next year i did 6 classes and now i'm doing about 12 hours of classes (i'm 14)
