Hi! IAMED is located in the Los Angeles area, but the word "academy" doesn't mean "school" in their case. Instead, it's a reference to "academy" as used in the "Motion Picture Academy" (ie, the organization that decides which movies get Oscars every year). IAMED originally started as an organization whose purpose was to manage an annual awards program that would recognize the best belly dance performances and instruction on videos. Just as the Motion Picture Academy members vote on which movies should get Oscars, so IAMED members would vote on which belly dance videos deserved the annual IAMED awards.

More recently, IAMED has shifted its focus away from the annual awards program, and now instead produces videos of belly dance performances and instruction. Their projects offer excellent production quality, great dancers, and well-delivered instruction.

To my knowledge, there is no school linked to IAMED where you can go to study belly dance. IAMED is located in southern California, in the Los Angeles area.

I hope this helps!

It's around the Los Angeles area of California however it is not an actual academy. The name is in some ways a bit of a misnomer. What they do is provide videos both instruction and performance that showcase high quality dancers. They don't actually have an academy and teach there although I believe I heard of them sponsoring local workshops and such. When you say "here" where does that mean that you are? If your in Europe you should try locating dancers through Mosaic. Bhuz forums also has dancers from asround the world as members who could give you recommendations closer to home (http://www.bhuz.com).
