How can you remove the nail in the bottom of the pointe shoe?

Question:My pointe shoes are EXTREMELY HARD and will not bend. My dance teacher says that I should pop the nail on the bottom of my pointe shoe, where the shank is. How can you do that without totally destroying the shoe?

it's different depending on the kind of pointe shoes you wear. the best thing to do it ask your teacher.
