Position:Home>Dancing> Want to begin ballroom dancing...?

Question:Ever since I saw shows like "So you Think you can Dance" and "Dancing with the Stars" I've wanted to ballroom dance. I did some ballet and somethign else when I was younger but never danced after that.

But I'm a young teen and one don't know if I'm too old to start dancing or if I'm too young to ballroom dance. But I really want to. But I want something it to be fun like not like waltz. So what should I really take. I like moving my feet and I think I could handle a lot of foot movement. I've also considered tap but it's not really the kind of dance I want.

So could you guys suggest what you guys think I should do. I'm really confused and my parents are questining me on whether or not I really want to dance. I'm also worried that for my age group there won't be really enough people doing ballroom dancing. So what should i do?

You're never too old to start dancing. I started ballroom dancing in my early 20's. You should look for classes such as introduction to ballroom or beginners ballroom.

Ballroom dancing covers a series of dances such as the waltz, bolero, salsa, the tango, etc .... Classes are usually an hour and you don't have to worry about going to classes alone. There will be other people in the class, and you will be paired up with someone to get the feel of dancing these dances with other people.

Classes usually are inexpensive ... you should take some beginners classes to see if it's something you really want to do. If you like it, then pursue it! If not, then you can always go through life saying, "I tried that," instead of saying, "What if?"

Good luck and don't be scared!

I am sure you could do it. Make sure you try an accredited place and get instruction from someone qualified. It will make you happier in the long run.

No matter what you do...just do it, and be happy. If you aren't having fun you are either not doing it right or it just isn't for you. Make your choice and either do your best or move on. Good luck no matter what.
