What are poms??

Question:i kinda know what its about but im from australia and we dont have poms in my school.And what do you do other than dance. what kind of techinuque do you need to have?

LOL these people...giving such silly answers. Poms is an extracurricular activity in many high schools. It differs from cheerleading because members of a poms team must have a dance backround - usually they do some sort of kickline and dance routine using pom poms. Depending on the school, the team may do other forms of dance such as lyrical, jazz, and hip hop (At least they did at my highschool). Often they compete against poms teams from different highschools around the country. The qualifications needed to make the team would probably include some type of dance experience, flexibility, and the ability to entertain a crowd, since they perform at various school sports such as football games.

Pom-poms are big fluffy ribbon balls with handles. Just shake 'em around and you should be fine. :)

When you say just "pom" once, it refers to what dancers use. What they use for pom routines, kick lines, and fight songs. It's choreographed to use them, and looks really sharp and classy.
