Question:

What do male ballet dancers do about their body hair?

High everyone, I'm in the dance performance class at my college, I was told to trim my body hair. Why would I need to do that for? I'm not sure if it's about the presentation on stage or what. One other thing, I've been getting my ballet clothing for Discount Dance Supplies, and I need to know where else can I get my ballet clothing.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Ask around at College (females would know best) and see if they know any good dance stores. It's better actually going into the store and trying on different sizes/styles that you like best. You'll be surprised how many dance stores there actually are, I can think of 5 in my area off the top of my head. Maybe even a google search :)

With the body hair thing, they probably want everyone to look the same. If one person has black chest hair they can stick out and if they want the dance to look like one dancer instead of a whole group of dancer it can throw off the effect a bit.

I hope I helped :] Male ballet dancers usually just cover their body hair with a leotard. Dreadlocks would seem quite de rigeur, nes pas? Either shave or wax it off. think 40 yr virgin (the movie)
