Question:

I am 14 years old and have had pointe shoes since I was 10. For some reason I can't "get over my toes" help

I have no problem with the ability part. Its is like my legs are not high enough over my shoes. I also tend to sickle on my little toes. Is this dangerous? Iam in advanced classes and my teachers just just tell me to pointe harder.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Your foot has two arches. The obvious arch under the foot and the arch on the top of the foot. It is the arch on the top of the foot that will get you up on your toes.

I would suggest that you not think about pointing your toes but rather think about stretching you leg and foot into a strong line from toe tip to waist. Don't curl your toes under. Keep them straight in line with your leg.
Put your right ankle on top of your left thigh and see if you can stretch the top of your foot to make a straight line from your knee to your toe tip. This is the stretch you need. Try it with the other leg.

When you are on pointe, think about pulling your heels up into your crotch.

Contrary to the words we use, going on pointe is not about the toes. it's about extending the line of the leg all the way to the floor. Source(s):
