Question:

Where can I get the best pointe shoes for a price range of $30-$50 dollars.?

P.S. This is my first year of pointe.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Talk to your teacher. She'll know the good shops in the area and what their prices run. It is possible to get a decent pointe shoe in that price range, but you may not be able to if you don't have perfectly average feet or you live in a really rich area. In fact, most teachers don't let their beginning students even consider buying pointe shoes on their own, so, uh, get her involved in the process.

If it's still your first year of pointe, don't buy online. Go to the stores, get fitted, try on a million different styles and see what fits your feet best. Poorly fitted pointe shoes will (not can, WILL) hurt your feet and eventually destroy them. It's not just length and width, either: the size and shape of your heel, instep, toes and arch all matter, and so do the proportion of one to another. How strong or weak your arches and ankles are also matters. Getting a properly fitted pointe shoe is not always easy, so seriously, unless you already know exactly what style of shoe works best for you (because you've been dancing in them for years and you've tried on pretty much every type of shoe there is), don't buy them online.

So, obviously, we can't give you any advice on individual brands and styles. Each shoe works best on a different sort of foot and dancing style: the poster above hates Freeds, but I love them.

Good luck finding a great pair. :) Source(s):
19 years of ballet, 12 of pointe go to any well known and certified ballet shop. online. I don't think you can get pointe shoes for under $50 Try discountdance.com If you know your shoe size. Or go to any dance store around where you live....most local dance stores have a wide variety of pointe shoes.

I recommend:

Grishko 2007
Grishko Elite
Bloch Sonata

- But that is for my feet. You need to try on all brands of pointe shoes & see which one fits you the best.

-DO NOT BUY FREED POINTE SHOES!! they are the worst pointe shoes you can possibly get. Trust me. I shop for neally all of my stuff on Ebay. It is the BEST. You can neally always get a bargain. You just never know. if this is your first time en pointe, then get them properly fitted - DONT BUY ONLINE. dont hesitate to spend a bit more. ask your teacher for any good brands and then find out where the stores are. for your first pair, you ABSOLUTELY need a professional fitting, and you can't let price be an object because you need to get the right shoe for your foot. That said, a lot of capezio models run for under 50, like the contempora and plies I. However, if they don't work for your feet, do not sacrifice your safety for the wallet.
