Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Well, I am trying to learn the splits right now, and all the things that people have been telling me to do are, warm up before and after every time you try and learn the splits, that was you won't tear a ligement, every night for about 10 or 15 mins just sit in a straddle, and just every couple of mins sit further and further in. And I think that is it, yeah, well I hope you learn how to do them, and I hope I learn how to do it also. Good Luck. Just keep practicing! Try to regularly do toe touches and splitz. To get better at splitz, do them as much as possible, about once a day. Each time you go down as far as you can go. After a while, you will get better and better. Practice makes perfect. This website contains lots of different stretches to improve splits flexibility.

The lunge with back leg against a wall/box is especially effective, as well as the straddles sit.

Also, if you're already close to your splits (like a few inches off the floor), try placing two chairs parallel, and going down on your splits while supporting your weight by placing your arms on the chairs. When you have reached your maximum, let go of the chairs, and you'll lower down into a split.
