Question:

Why doesn't anyone appreciate my breakdancing? It works perfectly with the music that they play!?

I was at an 8th-12th grade dance today. I'm in 8th. I tried my hand at break dancing but no one appreciated it. They pretty much told me to go way somewhere and stuff like that. I'm not trying to do it to be cool. It's how I dance. I practice, and try to impress others. No one likes it. I dont mind not being all that popular but being ignored/insulted!? What should I do? I do basic toprock steps Front, Back, Side, 4 Step. Alternate fast. Add in freezes/poses. No one likes it. It's the only way I dance. I could do what everybody else does but it's not me. Breakdancing is about originality showing off and competing. Tha's what i want to do. There's no BBoy classes in town. There's no junior teams in town. How can I breakdance and become a participant in the parteh?
-Thx
Katsuya

P.S.
Hopefully everyone doesn't think only black guys can breakdance because they are wrong.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Dude, I don't know why people aren't feelin your dancing. But I can tell you that you can't MAKE people like you or what you are about.

It's better to be hated for what you are, than to be loved for what you are not.

Do you bro. Be yourself. If you wanna break, then break dude. You get one life........you might wanna make sure you're happy.

Keep on practicing, keep on doin it.

I'm 24. In my experiences, the kids that are popular and everyone likes, are usually unhappy because they aren't real with themselves.

Someday, you're gonna meet some people that are gonna be like, damn, that sh*t's fresh! Until then, let the haters hate.

Good luck dude................. Well, no offense but your routine makes it sound like you're in amateur. No one wants to see an amateur.

P.S.
I thought it was only Asian guys can break. From what I heard is that breakdancing is no
longer as popular as it was years ago.

This style of dancing is considered from what I heard
in the entertainment industry news that it is
old stuff.

If no one appreciates your breakdancing it might be
because this style of dance no longer interests them
because it went in the way of bow ties, poodle skirts,
spats for shoes, punk rock, etc.
