Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Pain in a lot of places on the foot is completely normal in pointe shoes. However, not all pain is "good pain," or the kind of pain that brings strength and improvement. It's best to ask your pointe teacher if your shoes fit properly (pointe shoes that aren't snug or don't form to your feet right are extremely dangerous). Also, ask him/her to examine your releve and other basic steps in all the positions to make sure the problem isn't something you're doing wrong technically.

If everything is alright in those departments, chances are it's just a natural pain from pointe. Ice it and treat it like you would a regular dance related pain. Also, get a rubber bouncy ball that has you can sort of "push in" with your fingers. Put your foot on top of the ball and roll it using the bottom of your foot. Focus the rolling on the areas that hurt. It's a nice massage plus it strengthens a little.

Hope this helps. yes, that's perfectly normal. I've been on pointe for 5 years and still have that problem. You just need to strengthen your feet more. Keep working hard through the pain. If you think something might be wrong with your arch, talk to your teacher about it and have them take a look at it. Don't wear them. I danced in my cowboy boots and damaged nerves in my feet because the toe was too tight. Now I have to wear a special made orthotic that takes the pressure off the nerves and only it only fits in certain shoes. Take my advice and don't be hurt your feet; there are other dance shoes you can wear. o gawd yes. your entire foot will hurt for a while. soak your feet in bath water with and herbal powder. That is normal. That happens when u start dancing, but later it will all be OK, after u get used to it. Don't be worried or scared even if your toes bleed. Don't worry.

Kiss! I haven't gotten to pointe shoes yet. ;(
