Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: generally between 12 and 14 years old though some will never go en pointe. the strength of ankles and the shape and length of toes are taken into consideration as well as the strength and height of the arches. technique is definitely a deciding factor. i left ballet before i was put en pointe and returned at 15 im 18 now and have been en pointe for 2 years.
