Question:

Compition ballet?

i'm 14 and i've been doing ballet sense i was 5. this is my first year of pointe. i have a natural talent for ballet (so says my ballet teacher and my mom). And i really want to become a ballet teacher and go to a dance college. i really want to coment myself to compition ballet dancing. i know it would be hard work and endless hours of practice, but i'm completely willing to give up my time to it. i was just wondering how i could get started in it. and how to tell my mom of my dreams. also, the only dance places that do comptions are like an hour drive away (i go to a small town dance studio), would that be a problem?

thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If your mom thinks highly of you like you said (she thinks I have a natural talent for ballet), then she would love to hear that this is your dream and would do anything to help it.

You have the right attitude to do something like this, so your confidence and determination is great. Now, the best way to do this is talk to your teacher. She knows (or should) surrounding area ballet companies (even if you are from a small town) and knows what goes on in competitions and where to find them. Make sure you tell her and express to her that you REALLY want this and work harder than you ever had in class.

I wish you the best of luck.
