Robert Frost: The Best?

Would it be fair to say that Robert Frost is the greatest American poet (in terms of greatest appeal, his popularity etc?) Is there some debate on the subject?

And are there not any others (that are both readily readable and have some depth) that my foreign English students should be learning about for the purpose of basic discussion, interpretation and cultural literacy ? (i.e. Langston Hughes? etc)

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: He is definitely one of the best, but it is hard to say 'the best'. Every poet has a different style, thus different audiences. Many could argue that Edgar Allan Poe is in fact the greatest poet of American history. His poetry was the first of it's kind and helped influence almost every horror author since - just ask Stephen King.
