Question:

What is a beautiful, slow lyrical music that one can dance to in competition?

I am looking for different, unusual music that hasn't been used much at all in dance competition, such as Showstoppers, Dance USA, Rainbow, Starquest, etc.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Believe it or not I look at movie soundtracks quite a bit. I often find interesting and beautiful music, and it's not something that most people would use because it's not top 40 or anything like that. I actually found a really cool song from Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon that everyone loved! It's always good to look at love story and chick flick type movies. Rent some movies this weekend and really listen to the music that is being played "behind the scenes", it could inspire you and because of the movie may actually inspire your choreography!

I have also found some broadway show soundtracks useful, I just stay away from the too popular stuff. I understand what you mean about using the same old songs that the judges hear over and over!! I have attended many of the competitions you mentioned and it does get old hearing the same music for several soloists!!

I also appreciate it when soloists use the classics like Gershwin, "Rhapsody In Blue" or Louis Armstrong "What A Wonderful World"

Good luck with your music search!! I'm sure you'll find just what you need.
