Question:

What kinds of costs are involved in dance?

like what kinds of things do you need and all that....just what costs are involved?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It all depends on what you want to do and how far you want to go. If you are doing dance for fun and don't care about being a top contender regionally, nationally, or globally, you mostly are spending money on shoes and lessons. However, if you want to make it a career or start doing it competitively, you are looking at least a few thousand dollars annually to start with and then will be moving up to five figures as you progress.

As someone who does ballroom dance, private lessons usually start at $50/hr and be a few hundred an hour with champion dancers. The shoes cost anywhere from $100 and up. If you ever want to compete at a sactioned competition, there is at least another few hundred up front for the entrance free, hotel room, and food. Plus, the costumes you wear are very expensive. Men can usually get away with tailored suits costing around $1k while the women have gowns that can cost as much as a car but the median price is around $2k-$5k.

Ballet, modern, jazz, tap, etc have the cost of lessons, leotards, shoes, and the immense amount of time you have to dedicate to it. It can take a huge toll on your body if you don't maintain a high level of healthiness or if you try to push yourself too hard and too fast.
