Question:

Should i learn belly dancing?

I have no belly but great hips, except i am fairly unco-ordinated when it comes to dancing. I want to learn belly dancing cos it looks sexy. So, is it easy to learn? and will it make me more co-ordinated? And is it fun?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The great thing about bellydance is that it is great for all body types and all ages! It doesn't matter whether your skiny or fat it's made for everyone. However this in no way means that it is easy!!! A great dancer makes it look easy and many of the basic foundation movements are not difficult to learn but it does gain in complexity when you add on layering, musicality, and zills! Some movements will be extremely easy for you and endlessly frustrating for someone else while other moves will give you endless frustration and be a piece of cake for another. It can be extremely fun since many dancers usually end up forming a sort of sisterhood with fellow dancers. If you are classes that encourage and nurture this type of relationship than it will be extremely fun. As for co-ordination, any dance will help you improve your co-ordination because all dances are about becoming aware of both your body and the space around it. Gaining flexibilty and muscle control will strengthen your awareness of your range of motion and your spatial awareness. All of these will work together to improve your co-ordination (assuming of course that you practice more than your one class session a week).
