Question:

Dance lessons in chicago area?

I would like to learn how to dance properly. Are there any relatively low priced places in the chicago area or surrounding suburbs where I can go? Thanks.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: What kind of dance? For ballroom - go to http://www.ballroomdancers.com and find a studio near you. I suggest that you shop around different studios and find what you like. Don't buy any packages right away - since you have no experience, you have no way of telling if it is a good deal. I found the packages to be a bad idea (at least in my town) - once they have your money, they don't need to give their 100%, they dilute your lessons. You are returning anyway because you already paid. On the other hand, package deals provide some guidance and give you some structure - how often to take lessons, what lessons to take and so on. You can either do this, or you can do your own scheduling, picking and choosing. Talk to other dancers after classes, they are good resource. In any case, you need to dance at least 3 times a week as a beginner in order to have progress. Anything less than that - you tend to forget pretty much everything from lesson to lesson and it becomes frustrating. Find yourself some group classes, preferably "series" class that are accompanied by a social dance at the end and go for it. No other way to learn than trying. Define your dancing goals and go from there. You say you want to dance properly - what does it mean for you? An easier and more relevant question might be - what do you want to do with your dancing? What do you want to be able to dance 1 month from now? 3 months from now? 6 months from now?
