Question:

Ballet...spinning...dizzi...

Don't ballet dancers get dizzy when they keep spinning round and round!?! How do they stop themselves getting dizzy if there is a way???

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Dancers use a technique called "spotting", which works as follows:
For pirouettes, the dancer focuses on a spot at eye-level and keeps focusing while making a quarter turn with the body, then whips the head around to focus again on that same spot while the body follows shortly afterwards to complete the turn.
For turns across the diagonal, it is important that the head move freely from side to side (shoulder to shoulder), keeping the spot as the body makes 2 half turns. The head is still whipping around on the 2nd half turn.
Hope this helps. It can be difficult to explain only with words. :)
