Question:

Is it hard to learn Belly Dancing?

Looking for a class for beginners in North London anyone know of one?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Bellydancing although it may seem fairly simple is a very complex art. As with any complex art you must put in a lot of time to be able to do it well. Bellydance comes easier to some and very hard to others. Some of this will depend on whether you are physically fit or rather out of shape, whether you've had previous dance training (of any kind ballet, tap, jazz, modern, etc...), and many other factors. There are many moves which are very easy to learn while others may take years of hard work to perfect. Some people will do certain moves right away with no problems that will take another dancer years to accomplish. Some people seem to have a natural talent for it and progress through movements much quicker. Others, who are not naturals, may take a long time to master the art. In general learning the basic moves is fairly easy and with a little work even more complicated beginners moves may be easily learned but once you progress beyond basic moves and move into layering, transitions, zilling, musicality, and musical interpretation (all of which are aspects of being able to to this dance) you will find that it gets much more complicated. Try some beginners classes and have fun. If you fall in love with it, as it seems a great many of us do, you will want to persevere even through the more advanced portions just because of your love for the dance (it doesn't quite seem like work when it's something you love doing).
