Just brush the soles using gentle strokes until the dirt is gone, that is, until they don't look shiny anymore. I usually do it afer every practice. Don't worry, you won't wear them out by brushing. This shiny stuff is actaully dirt and floor wax. You want to get it out because it causes excessive wear on your shoes.

Satin (top of the shoe) is nearly impossible to clean. I scotch-guard my shoes when they are new, it seem to help a little, but only a little.
