Question:

Dancing?????????????????

I REALLY want to start dancing. If im 18, is it too late to start? maybe not a career... but I want to be able to dance really good. Is that possible? Um... like hip-hop and lyrical/jazz??? yeah those. But i dont wana be a cheap dancer. Like a really good one. Will i be able to do that if I start at 18? Im 16 now but cant start financially. But I went to tap for like 4 months and I went to my dance team for like 5 months. I really wanna do this. I can almost do the splits. =[]

You're a guy, am I right? Many dance studios are able to offer hefty scholarships for guys 'cause they're needed for partnering all the girls. Please check out all the dance studios in your area and see what might be available. If there is a college near you that has a dance program, call that department and ask if you could speak to one of the male faculty members for advice. College programs are always looking to recruit male dancers, so it is to their advantage to point you in the right direction.

Many, many guys get a late start in dance due to the cultural stigmas. In fact, 16 is a very common starting time for guys - even ones who have gone on to make it big in dance. If you want to be REALLY good, you should definitely include ballet in your dance training, as that is where you learn all the basic positions and terminology that are also used in jazz.

I hope you can cheer up and not be so glum. Hold on to hope, as your college years are bound to be much better.
