Question:

Are Irish step dancing dresses comfortable?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It really depends on what type of dress you get. The newer dresses tend to be stiffer espeshially in the panelling and there for can be some what uncomfortable to dance in. Also, because of all the glitter dots and fishscale fabrics that are being used, they have to be set on something stiffer so that they dont fall off as fast.

However, if you pick one of the older styles with the velvetine type material I actually find them very comfortable.

Also, you have to remember that a lot of Irish dance dresses are stiffer on top because we Irish Dancers do not move our upper body at all during solo's (or at least were not supposed to and we try out best not too) so the fact that the dresses are a little stiffer helps us out.

However, I find that not all solo's are uncomfortable, IF THEY ARE THE RIGHT FIT!!!!!! So always make sure a dress fits properly no matter what and you should be ok.

Also, what level you are in has a lot to do with what dress you should get. What level are you and with what orignization? If you have any more questions feel free to ask. :)
