Question:

Who invented ballet?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Nobody really 'invented' ballet. People have always danced. The code of training that we recognise today as classical ballet originated in Italy & France in the 16th century. Louis XIV, the 'Sun King' was a fine dancer & much of today's class work & steps come from the French Court. This is why so many of the terms used in ballet are French - tour en l'air, rond de jambe, jete, plie, etc. Look up history of ballet on the internet & you will find info. There are also many books written on the subject.
