Question:

Help with turns on pointe?

I need some help on my turns in my pointe class. I have alot of ankle strenght and could probably do it, but I am really scared. I started putting rosin on my pointe shoes and that helped me from sliding, but I am still scared to death of turning. I have a preformance coming up sooner than later and I need to get this simple little problem. Thanks in advanced.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: When I danced, I too was terrified of turns. Rosin is a good idea, and also there are things at reputable dance stores you can buy to sew on the box to make them less slippery. As long as you can turn on demi, and you have good ankle strength (You can roll up thru demi to get to full point) then you should have no problem doing turns. Just have confidence in yourself and try some chanie turns or a single piruette. I wouldn't try a fuette (sp?) until you are confident in chanie or piruettes. Good luck!
