Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Well that really depends on who you ask but the short answer is yes there is. It's generally refered to as a scimitar as opposed to a sword though. However, it is considered by many purist bellydancers to be not an authentic prop. It's thought of more as an american hollywood invention but is widely practiced in the US by both nightclub style as well as tribal style dancers. You should find plenty of information on-line by googling "scimitar dance"
