Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If you're not naturally flexible, scorpions are kind of a pain. I worked and worked on them in high school cheerleading and dance and just barely managed to reach one for a few months during senior year when I was in top physical form.

First, purchase a stretchy Theraband and stretch with it every night. Do some jumping jacks or jog in place to warm up, do your regular arm/leg stretches, and then wrap the Theraband around one foot and assume the scorpion position. (The Theraband is great 'cause even if you can't reach your foot to your fingertips right away, you can, of course, keep stretching it there.) Work on your balance, also, and find that ease and strength on your standing leg. Do lots of split and groin stretches and crunches to strengthen the tummy (a strong tummy will prevent you from injuring your back).

Yoga classes might also be useful; they make you very stretchy. One yoga position is called the Scorpion; it's slightly different from the dance scorpion you and I are talking about, but stretches similar muscles.
