Which is better: Cheerleading or Dance Team?

Okay so cheerleading tryouts is a week from now and i wanted to try out, but i learned like 4 month ago that our school will be having a dance team for the first time in 15 years. There is alot of people trying out for both. I cant decide what to do cuz i have been working my *** off for cheerleading since this summer, but dance team sounds like more fun. I take dance classes and my dance teacher told me from what she's thinks that i should do cheerleading cuz i improved since this summer. I dont know how dance team is gonna be since this is the first year they are doing it in a long time plus i don t even know what they are going to dance too since our band is like 5 people who dont even go to away games. I'm realy shy and want to come out of my shell. Which one should i try out for and what should i do when it comes to tryouts for both?
