Question:

Tryouts for Drill team?

I'm trying out for my high schools drill/dance team in about a month. We need to be able to do turns, leaps, chasses, etc. I have been practicing these a lot lately, but I feel like I still haven't gotten them down.. and those are the most basic things in drill team! I mean, it's not that I'm doing it wrong, I just don't feel like I'm doing them strong enough. Does anyone have any general tips for me to improve my leaps, chasses, or turns? I'm trying to get as good as possible so I don't make a fool of myself at the clinic :D thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: i would suggest taking dance lessons at a local dance studio. they usually teach you the basics of dancing such leaps, turns, and chasses. It's important to know that when doing turns that you pick a spot so that you don't lose your balance. Leaps are pretty easy as long as you don't bend your back leg when leaping. Chasses are also easy as long as your feet kiss each other when chasseing.Make sure you stretch as often as you can and work on your balance. Balance and coordination is the key in dancing.
