Question:

Dancing with emotion?

Okay, so well. I'm new at dance classes. And I love it. But everyone tells me to put emotion and feeling into it. I just don't understand! How do I do that? I can't smile while I do hip-hop dancing. But I don't want to look drab either. How do you do it?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I would agree with the smiling during hip hop because it can get cheesy and doesn't fit with the music. I usually listen to the song and get the feel for it and the vibe it gives me. If you have these hard hitting beats try to figure out what the beats would look like expressed on your face and when you can use lots of face and at other times keep it controlled. I really agree with dancing outside of your comfort zone because you will find a new you that has always been there but you haven't been able to express before and the only way to express it is through your emotion in dance. Think of yourself as a blank canvas at first but when the music comes on you are an artist coloring that canvas.
