BAD. well i did start tap for the first time ever 3 wks ago. but lemme tell you how i was. every tap step i couldnt move my feet fast enough and i had to fake it every time . i think i could be decent at tap if i had the ability to move my feet faster . can anyone tell me how i can be able to move my feet faster?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Ah, the frustrations of going to a dance workshop, in a new city, before another teacher most likely haven't had before, and not being able to do a basic shuffle ball change without hitting your ankles! Sigh. You stated you started tap for the first time just 3 weeks ago. That's great! But you have to remember that every tap step based on the basics - shuffle, ball change, flaps, etc. Once you have them down slowlly and can do them, then speed it up. Over time and practice, you'll get the speed you want.

I've been dancing for 20+ years in tap, and still make mistakes! At the workshop, were you in the right class? Very few conventions have a basic/beginning class unless it is for the younger dancers. They mostly start intermediate to advanced. And if you don't know the terms or the steps, it will mess you up. Even when I had different teachers at conventions, learning "their" way was challenging. They wanted to see what the class was capable of.

To really make your feet go faster, remember to keep them light on your toes, and underneath you. Don't take huge steps. Take smaller steps if you are moving across the floor. Keep your feet low to the ground and your knees flexible. Did the other posters say "practice"? Start slow and speed it up. Good luck!
