Question:

Do poets have a right to write?

If I'm writing a poem about, a girl who's being abused, do I have a right to write? That isn't my experience, and I don't know for sure to true feeling of the poem. If I don't know the subject, how can I write the poem? Do I have a right to write?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: The advice usually given is: write what you know. But if you want to write about and you don't know much on the subject, then it's up to you to find out about it.
