I have just moved to Orlando can anyone tell me some good things to do?

I just moved to Orlando this week. I am looking to check out the local art scene and get involved in the community. if anyone know some great places please let me know. I am also looking to get my dog into obedience training if anyone has suggestions there let me know. I am not from Florida so i am up for any suggestions but i would prefer more local things to do then all the big tourist attractions.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: Welcome to Florida! I've lived here my whole life, but I'm just about to move out.

As far as art goes, there are some great theaters downtown and an art museum tied into the science center. If you're at all interested in science, then you should check out the science center too. There is also a great improv theater across from the TD Waterhouse Arena (which changed names recently and I can't remember the new name). Anyway the theater is called Sak and they have shows and classes. I took classes there and had a ball.

There is a great little theater in Sanford. It's called the Helen Stairs Theater. I'm not sure exactly where you are in Orlando, so that might be a bit of a drive.

If you're reasonably close to Longwood, I would recommend a great vet. It's called Longwood Veterinary Clinic and they also offer obedience classes. I have been a client of the owner for at least 15 years, probably more. I also worked there for a time and I trust my animals to them implicitly.
