Question:

What is the name of this book?

I read it years ago and my mom brought it up the other day and now we can't remember what it's called or even the author...Its about this town that is moved somewhere else...it happened after a big explosion...its on just a big square of land...people are trying to figure out why...that's not much info but maybe it will ring a bell with someone lol

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: This is a common enough premise in science fiction that without more information it will be hard to pin down which story it is.

My first guess, because it's the most popular book of this type, is "1632" by Eric Flint. The town of Grantsville, West Virginia(?) is transported to Europe in 1632, where they proceed to use their advanced knowledge and technology to change history.

"Mysterium" by Robert Charles Wilson sounds closer to what you describe, but is more obscure. It's been too long since I've read it and I can't find my copy, but I seem to remember a nuclear accident and/or explosion being the trigger. The town is sent to an alternate timeline ruled by a Gnostic theocracy.

A long shot possibility is "Island in the Sea of Time" by S. M. Stirling. The entire island of Nantucket is sent back in time to the Bronze Age (ca. 3000 BCE, if I remember correctly).

There are probably others that I am not remembering, but I hope that your book is one of these.
