Hi!

This is an old Maori war chant. Today, New Zealand??s National Rugby Team uses it as their fight song. The translation seems to have changed since I was a young man. This was the way it was taught to me.

Will I die, will I die
Will I live, will I live
Will I die, will I die
Will I live, will I live
I??ll hide in this hole
Here comes the man with the hairy legs
He??s helping climb toward the sun
Climb together
Climb toward the sun
Together
Together to the sun
The sun
YES!

Legend tells that the warrior was being chased by a group from another tribe. The hairy legged man was a chief from a friendly tribe who found him hiding and helped him up. The warrior, in his excitement, sang and danced this Haka for the chief.
