i have been thinking of taking belly dancing lessons but my mum has said that it is unmodest cuz u show ur belly? ok i just wanted to know what u guys think i really want to learn it thanks. ****I ALWAYS PICK BEST ANSWER BTW****

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I am a bellydancer (6 years) and a christian... and my mom does it with me... it is not a bad dance form at all... we have girls from 5 - women of 80+ dancing in my studio, everyone dresses according to how comfortable they are... so if your mom doesn't want you to show your belly, then you can still make gorgeous outfits without exposing it... I haven't felt comfortable showing my tummy to the world (also coz I weigh a bit more than I should lol) so I made a bra top, but added strips of organza to the bottom with beads hanging down... it then moves when you do and looks the part as well... fringing also works. As I said we have young girls dancing with us, and they are dressed age appropriate... also if you are just dancing in a class you can wear whatever is comfortable (I just wear sweats) and that's fine... I LOVE this dance form and encourage every woman to take it up, coz you can be any age, size and shape and feel like a beautiful Goddess... it is not sexual unless you make it that way, so get your mom to come to a few of your classes and sit in... she may find whe would like to do it too:)
