Question:

Who has seen the Rite of Spring ballet ?

And what experience did you get from it ?
What is, according to you, the best version made of it ?

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: I have seen two versions live, the first was a reconstruction (Millicent Hodson and Kenneth Archer) of the original that was premiered 1913 in Paris. The other was Tero Saarinen's "Hunt" to Stravinsky's Sacre du Printemps. That was premiered in Venice Biennal 2002.

Watching the reconstruction I am sure my reaction was far from the audience reaction seen in 1913. The work is very modernist, and felt heavy.

Saarinen's Hunt is surely one of the strongest experiences I have had when wittnessing a dance performance. I recommend this work highly if anyone has the opportunity to catch it - or anything from Tero Saarinen Company. They make contemporary dance.

You can't really compare a recontruction and a new art work in terms of better-best.
