If you are looking for a book featuring an 'eponymous' heroine, then you can restrict yourself to books titled with a woman's name (like Jane Eyre, Lorna Doone etc)... actually, Lorna Doone is a Scottish novel and Lorna gets kidnapped... so it could be that (author R D Blackmore)....
