Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: If you are authorized to you can order the birth certificate from the vital statistics office in the county in which the birth took place. You will have to provide identification and provide the necessary fee. An authorized person is described by them as "an immediate family member OR demonstrate a legal right to the record in order to obtain a copy of the record"

The fee to search for a birth, Marriage or Death certificate is $12.00, which includes one certified copy of the certificate or a "Certificate of Failure to Find." For each additional copy of the certificate ordered at the same time, the fee is $4.00. Checks or Money Orders should be made payable to "Vital Records." Please do not send cash. Fees are non refundable. Additional fees are required for expedited service. Mail all Applications to: Alabama Vital Records, P. O. Box 5625, Montgomery, Al 36103-5625.
