You may have noticed that "The Acropolis" in Athens, Greece happens to be a most deserving candidate.

In the first ever travel guide
made by the Athenians for the Athenians
of the Classical era, the ORIGINAL "Seven Wonders"
were featured (and they were all located outside Athens), which is the only logical reason why The Acropolis was not included in that list. So, I guess you realize why it is HISTORICALLY and MONUMENTALLY important and for the Acropolis of Athens to be included --NOW-- in this world-wide version of the "New 7 Wonders".
