Question:

Is John Robert Powers a scam?

A friend went to an audition and they told him later that he would have to pay them (the company) for head shots and other expenses. He was told they would need $500.00 up front and another $250.00 per week. Also, they put a time frame deadline of about an hour to decide. It sounds like a scam but my friend just wants to be sure.

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: It is. No legitimate agent/agency will charge an actor or model to represent them. And they do *NOT* require you to go through them for headshots (which you do need). They might recommend a photographer or two if you ask them, but that's it. The agent/agency gets paid a percentage of what a model or actor gets paid for a job-if they don't get their clients work, they don't get paid either.
