Film extra ?

Question:

Becoming a TV/Film extra ?

I have always fancied being an extra and am at the poistion in my life where I would have the time to do this - I do not know how to start going about this tho - do I need an agent ? how much does it pay ? Do I have to audition ? I don't want to do anything major, just crowd scenes or walking about in the background. I have no acting experience.

Is there anyone on here who's doing this already who can advise ?
