Question:

European 19th century upper-class daily life?

Does anyone know (or know of some website or book that can tell me) what daily life was like for the upper class in the 19th century? They inherited all their money and didn't need to work, so what exactly did they do all day? Thanks!

Best Answer - Chosen by Asker: There was some variety, but there were common threads. Women, of course, managed their households, often with the help of servants. They often were involved in church activites and charitable endeavors. Women often formed clubs devoted to everything from music, to Greek culture (which was enjoying a revival) to helping the needy. Men would manage their business affairs, often mixed with social engagements. This would often take place at clubs in the major cities. It was common for men to have hobbies, ranging from hunting, riding, or gardening to amateur scientific efforts.
